- Mix pudding with cold milk as directed on the package.
- Let the pudding stand for 5 minutes.
- Thinly slice the pound cake and brush slices with orange juice.
- Line the bottom and sides of a 2-quart glass bowl with the cake slices.
- Spread 1/2 of the pudding over the cake layer.
- Add 1/3 of the cherry pie filling on top of the pudding.
- Spread 1/2 cup of whipped topping over the cherry filling.
- Add another layer of cake slices on top of the whipped topping.
- Repeat the layers: pudding, cherry filling, whipped topping, and cake slices.
- Spread the remaining whipped topping all over the top of the trifle.
- Spoon the cherry pie filling into the center, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Sprinkle toasted sliced almonds around the edge.
- Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
