Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider using a mix of nuts such as pecans or almonds instead of walnuts. If you want to reduce sweetness, use semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate. Make sure to evenly distribute the Eagle Brand milk to prevent dry spots in the bars. If you prefer a firmer texture, bake for an additional 5 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of milk instead of Eagle Brand milk?

How can I make this recipe gluten-free?

To make these chewy bars gluten-free, simply substitute the crushed graham crackers with gluten-free graham cracker crumbs or another gluten-free cookie crumb like almond flour or crushed gluten-free cookies. Ensure all other ingredients are certified gluten-free.

Can I freeze these chewy bars?

Yes, you can freeze these chewy bars! Cut them into squares and layer between parchment paper in an airtight container. They can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving for the best texture.
