Chile Bean Stew

Ingredients

  • 27 oz. can S&W 50% less salt kidney beans
  • 20 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 lb. lean hamburger
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen green beans
  • 2 Tbsp. minced dried onion
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cumin

Instructions

  1. Steam peeled and sliced carrots and green beans over a small amount of water until tender; reserve the water.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the lean hamburger and drain excess fat if using.
  3. Add the cooked vegetables, tomato sauce, kidney beans, dried onion, sugar, cumin, and the reserved water to the skillet.
  4. Simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes until flavors have blended and the soup has thickened.
