Ingredients

  • 14 oz. bag caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 3/4 cup melted oleo
  • 6 oz. package chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in a double boiler or microwave. Set aside.
  2. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan and flour it.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the dry German chocolate cake mix, 3/4 cup melted oleo, and 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  4. Press half of the dough into the prepared pan and bake at 350°F for 6 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the baked layer.
  6. Spread the melted caramel mixture over the chocolate chips.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the caramel layer.
  8. Bake at 350°F for an additional 20 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool. Then refrigerate before serving.
  10. Cut into small squares and serve.
