- Melt mint chocolate chips over hot (not boiling) water.
- Remove melted chocolate from heat.
- Combine shortening, sugar, and egg in a bowl.
- Beat until creamy.
- Blend in melted chocolate and corn syrup.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt, then gradually stir into the chocolate mixture.
- Shape dough into balls using 1 level tablespoon each.
- Roll balls of dough in sugar.
- Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 3 inches apart.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Let cookies stand a few minutes before removing from the pan.
