Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup oleo or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups Quaker oats, uncooked
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 (10 oz.) jars maraschino cherries, drained

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat sugar, oleo (butter), eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Add 1 cup melted chocolate chips; mix well.
  4. Stir in oats, flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well.
  5. Cover the dough and chill for 1 hour.
  6. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.
  7. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  8. Press centers with your thumb to make an indentation.
  9. Place a cherry into each center of the cookies.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until set.
  11. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
  12. Drizzle the cookies with the remaining melted chocolate chips.
