Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/4 stick margarine
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla flavoring

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, flour, and cocoa together in a bowl.
  2. Gradually add milk, one cup at a time, stirring well.
  3. Beat egg yolks well and add them to the mixture.
  4. Cook the mixture in a double boiler until thickened.
  5. Add margarine and vanilla flavoring to the thickened mixture.
  6. Pour the filling into an already baked 8 or 9-inch pie crust.
  7. Repeat for a second pie if desired.
  8. Top with meringue or Cool Whip before serving.
