Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup real butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup sweet milk
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup melted unsweetened chocolate

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Sift dry ingredients three times.
  3. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with sweet milk.
  4. Mix in mashed potatoes and melted unsweetened chocolate.
  5. Add chopped nuts and raisins that have been mixed with the mashed potatoes and chocolate.
  6. Blend well.
  7. Grease and lightly flour two 8 x 8-inch pans.
  8. Pour batter into pans.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes.
