Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 4 squares semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Beat margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Stir in chopped chocolate and walnuts.
  6. Shape dough into logs on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, then let cool slightly.
  8. Slice logs into biscotti pieces.
  9. Bake slices for an additional 10-15 minutes until crisp.
