Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter, sugar, and slightly beaten egg.
  2. Add vanilla, dry ingredients, and milk to the creamed mixture.
  3. Melt the unsweetened chocolate and mix it into the dough.
  4. Knead the dough with hands until uniform in color.
  5. Add chopped nuts to the dough.
  6. Divide the dough into halves and form into 2 long rolls on plastic wrap.
  7. Chill the dough until firm.
  8. Unwrap the rolls and slice thinly, about 1/2-inch thick.
  9. Bake in a 350°F oven for about 10 minutes.
  10. Cookies will not puff up; store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
