Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider marinating the veal or pork in soy sauce and garlic for an hour before cooking. If you can't find mixed suey vegetables, you can substitute with a blend of your favorite stir-fry vegetables. For a vegetarian option, tofu or seitan can replace the meat, and you can use vegetable broth instead of water.

Serving Suggestions

Chop Suey is best served over steamed rice, which absorbs the delicious sauce. For a complete meal, pair it with a side of Chinese Vegetable Soup or a crisp green salad. You can also serve it with egg rolls or dumplings for a delightful dinner spread.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of water or broth to prevent drying out. You can also microwave it in short intervals, stirring in between until heated through.
