Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 envelope dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine milk, yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, beaten egg yolks, and cream in a small bowl; mix well.
  2. Let stand until foamy and proofed, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, blend flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and salt.
  4. Cut in butter until pieces are about the size of small beans.
  5. Fold in the yeast mixture just until ingredients are moistened.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.
