Chunky Hamburgers feature hearty beef patties served with savory tomato sauce and creamy mashed potatoes, perfect for a comforting family meal with rich flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 can peeled tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Cook potatoes and mash enough for 4 servings.
  2. Form ground beef into 4 patties.
  3. Brown the patties in a skillet.
  4. Add canned peeled tomatoes, 1 cup water, diced celery, and diced green pepper to the skillet.
  5. Cook the mixture for about 30 minutes.
  6. Make a paste with 1 tablespoon flour and 1/4 cup water.
  7. Remove the cooked patties and some of the vegetables from the tomato sauce.
  8. Keep the patties warm.
  9. Add the flour and water paste to the sauce to thicken. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Serve the hamburger patties with mashed potatoes and gravy.
