Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
  3. Add egg yolk, flour, and cinnamon; mix until well blended.
  4. Press mixture into an ungreased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.
  5. Pour egg white over surface; drain off excess.
  6. Sprinkle chopped pecans over top.
  7. Press pecans lightly into dough.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
  9. Cut into 3 x 1-inch bars and cool on wire racks.
