Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
  2. Cream together sugar, shortening, and spices.
  3. Beat in eggs until well combined.
  4. Blend in milk and raisins.
  5. Gradually stir in the sifted flour mixture.
  6. Drop teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
