- Mix together the lukewarm milk, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the yeast to the mixture and let it activate.
- Stir in the beaten eggs and add the soft shortening.
- Gradually add the sifted flour, kneading until the dough is elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise until double in size, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- Punch down the dough and turn it over in the bowl. Let it rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes.
- Roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and place on a cookie sheet.
- Let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
- Punch holes in the dough, but not all the way through.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and about half a can of condensed or evaporated milk.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
