- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Place raisins in 1/2 cup boiling water; cool.
- Drain raisins; reserve the water.
- Cream the shortening, sugar, and molasses.
- Sift flour, salt, soda, baking powder, and cinnamon together.
- Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with the reserved raisin water, mixing well.
- Fold in raisins and nuts.
- Spoon batter into 6 greased and floured soup cans.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until bread tests done.
