Ingredients

  • 25 clams
  • 2 1/2 lb potatoes
  • 1 can mixed vegetables
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 teaspoon green pepper, diced
  • 3 to 4 dashes Texas Pete
  • 3 dashes Worcestershire
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 4 slices salt pork
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the clams up with a sharp knife and fork.
  2. Peel and dice the potatoes; combine with onions, green pepper, Texas Pete, Worcestershire, oregano, parsley flakes, salt, and black pepper in a large saucepan.
  3. Cover with clam juice and water, then add the mixed vegetables and boil slowly for 1 hour.
  4. Dice the salt pork and fry until crisp.
  5. Add the fried salt pork and its grease to the clam mixture.
  6. Continue cooking the mixture.
  7. Prepare pie crust and roll out to fit a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  8. Line the sides of the pan with the crust.
  9. Add the clam mixture into the crust-lined pan.
  10. Cover with strips of crust to form a top layer.
  11. Bake in a 400°F (200°C) oven until the crust is browned.
