Ingredients

  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk (hot)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Beat eggs until thick, about 3 minutes on high speed.
  3. Gradually add sugar and beat on medium speed for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into the egg mixture gently.
  5. Add butter to hot milk and vanilla, then blend well.
  6. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes.
  8. Cool in the pan before cutting.
