Ingredients

  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup lemon juice
  • 3 teaspoons grated lemon rind
  • 1 package unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 angel food cake

Instructions

  1. Beat egg yolks; add 3/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and lemon rind.
  2. Cook over low heat until thickened.
  3. Add unflavored gelatin soaked in cold water; let cool.
  4. Fold in well-beaten egg whites with 3/4 cup sugar.
  5. Pour mixture over angel food cake and chill before serving.
