Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
  3. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except nuts.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 65 to 70 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the bread for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan.
  8. Wrap tightly in foil and cool completely before serving.
