Ingredients

  • 3 lb boneless codfish
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 medium-sized onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp hot pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1/2 c water
  • 2 c flour
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Soak the codfish overnight.
  2. Drain off the water from the codfish.
  3. Run the codfish through a meat grinder or chop in a food processor with the diced onion and garlic.
  4. Mix the processed codfish with eggs, flour, hot pepper, water, and other ingredients.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into hot shortening or cooking oil.
  6. Fry until golden brown on both sides.
