Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Crisco oil
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl; set aside.
  2. Cream the sugar, Crisco, oil, and eggs until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating after each addition.
  4. Stir in chopped apples, lemon juice, and vanilla; blend well.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 10-inch tube pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool slightly, then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
