- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Melt butter in a baking pan on top of stove on medium heat.
- Add brown sugar to melted butter and stir until evenly mixed.
- Arrange pineapple or other fruit and nuts onto sugar mixture.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add shortening to dry ingredients in a bowl.
