Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup oleo, softened
  • 4 teaspoons dry yeast or 2 envelopes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups hot tap water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add oleo, hot water, and eggs to the dry ingredients.
  3. Beat with a mixer for 2 minutes at medium speed.
  4. Gradually add remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  5. Remove the dough and knead until elastic.
  6. Cover with plastic wrap and a towel; let rest for 20 minutes.
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it in half.
  8. Roll out each half and spread with oleo, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts.
  9. Roll into a jelly roll shape and slice into 1 to 1.5-inch slices.
  10. Place the slices in a jelly roll pan.
  11. Brush lightly with oil, then cover with plastic wrap and let rise in the refrigerator overnight.
