Coon Dogs are savory, cheesy sausage bites with a hint of Tabasco, perfect as flavorful appetizers for gatherings or casual snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hot or mild sausage
  • 1 small box Bisquick
  • 10 oz. coon or extra sharp cheese
  • a few drops of Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Let the sausage come to room temperature.
  2. Mix dry Bisquick and sausage with hands until well combined.
  3. Melt the cheese in a double boiler and add a few drops of Tabasco sauce.
  4. Add the melted cheese to the sausage mixture and mix well.
  5. Shape the mixture into teaspoon-sized balls.
  6. Bake in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, and they can be made ahead, frozen, and baked without thawing.
