Ingredients

  • 3 chicken breasts, skinned, boned and split
  • 6 slices thin ham
  • 6 oz Swiss cheese, cut into 6 sticks
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 can (4 oz) mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup dry white wine

Instructions

  1. Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness.
  2. Season the chicken with salt.
  3. Place a slice of ham and a stick of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.
  4. Tuck in the sides and roll up the chicken to enclose the filling, pressing to seal.
  5. Coat each rolled chicken in flour.
  6. Lightly brown the coated chicken in butter and then place in a baking dish.
  7. In a skillet, stir together the mushrooms, water, white wine, and Heinz 57 sauce in the remaining butter.
  8. Heat the mushroom mixture and pour it over the chicken in the baking dish.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until tender.
  10. Thicken the sauce if desired and serve with rice.
