Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup self-rising cornmeal
  • 1 pound wieners
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • oil

Instructions

  1. Insert each wiener into a skewer or stick for easy handling.
  2. In a bowl, combine self-rising flour and self-rising cornmeal.
  3. Add the egg and milk to the dry ingredients, whisk until smooth to form batter.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Dip each wiener into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.
  6. Carefully lower the coated wieners into hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with preferred condiments.
