Ingredients

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese
  • 1/4 cup soft butter
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Add cornmeal gradually to boiling, salted water, stirring constantly.
  2. Cook for 20 minutes.
  3. Turn into a buttered 8-inch square pan and chill until firm.
  4. Cut into strips 1 x 2 inches.
  5. Split each strip in half.
  6. Spread with butter and sprinkle with cheese again.
  7. Place on a buttered sheet and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes or until brown.
