Ingredients

  • 4 qt. popped popcorn
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup Karo syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 225° to 250° Fahrenheit.
  2. Pop the popcorn using an air popper if possible; set aside in a large roaster or pan.
  3. In a large pot, mix butter, sugar, and Karo syrup.
  4. Cook the mixture to a rolling boil and maintain for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and baking soda; mixture will foam.
  6. Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and mix until well coated.
  7. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every fifteen minutes to ensure even coating.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool, then store in covered containers.
