Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c. Karo light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 3 qt. freshly popped popcorn (unsalted)

Instructions

  1. Cook the first five ingredients over medium heat to 260° on a candy thermometer (hard ball stage).
  2. Working quickly, pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn and mix well.
  3. Spread the coated popcorn flat on a cookie sheet and bake at 200° for 1 hour, stirring 3 times during baking.
