Cranberry Crumb Bars combine tart cranberries with sweet orange marmalade and a buttery oat crumble, perfect for festive gatherings or a delightful afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked regular oats
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 (16 oz) can whole cranberries
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 3/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 3/4 cup slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Mix 2 cups of flour with oats, sugar, and margarine until crumbly. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the oats mixture.
  2. Press the remaining oat mixture into the bottom of a greased 12 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cranberry sauce with marmalade, slivered almonds, and remaining 1/4 cup of flour.
  5. Spoon the cranberry mixture over the oat crust in the pan.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved oat mixture evenly over the top.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Cool completely; then cut into squares to serve.
