Ingredients

  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 to 1 1/2 c heavy cream
  • 1 stick unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Slowly add 1 cup of the heavy cream, stirring with a rubber spatula, until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Add up to 1/2 cup additional cream if the mixture is too dry, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Melt and cool the unsalted butter, then add it to the dough and gently mix.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times.
  7. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut into rounds with a biscuit cutter.
  8. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
