Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1{egg} 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon shortening or oil
  • melted butter

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
  2. Beat the egg, add shortening or oil, and lukewarm water, then combine with the dry ingredients to moisten the dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured board for 15 to 20 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rest, covered, for half an hour.
  5. Dust a clean table with flour and roll the dough out thinly.
  6. Spread sliced apples over the dough.
  7. Sprinkle bread crumbs over the apples, then add a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Dot the top with small pieces of melted butter.
  9. Roll the dough up into a log and place on a baking sheet.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown, about 25 to 30 minutes.
