Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Beat butter and sugar until well combined.
  2. Add eggs and milk, mixing thoroughly.
  3. Combine all dry ingredients and sift together.
  4. Gradually add dry mixture to wet ingredients, mixing to form a dough.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut the dough into triangles.
  7. Slit the middle of each triangle.
  8. Pull the point of the triangle through the slit to shape the crueller.
  9. Fry in hot oil or shortening until golden brown on both sides.
  10. Drain on paper towels and let cool.
  11. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
