Ingredients

  • 1 cup white cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: cornmeal, flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar.
  2. Add 1 cup of milk, beaten egg, and melted butter to the dry mixture and stir until combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a baking pan.
  4. Pour 1/2 cup of milk on top of the batter.
  5. Do not stir after adding milk on top.
  6. Bake at 400° F for about 30 minutes until set and golden.
  7. Serve warm.
