Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 to 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Peel and slice 5 to 6 large apples.
  3. In a bowl, combine apple slices with brown sugar, quick cooking tapioca, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  4. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
  5. Place the apple mixture into a prepared pie crust or baking dish.
  6. Dot the filling with small pieces of butter.
  7. Cover with top crust if desired, seal edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
