Ingredients

  • 2 sticks oleomargarine
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 1/2 box white raisins
  • 2 cups black walnuts
  • 1 pound candied fruit

Instructions

  1. Cream oleomargarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat eggs. Add flour, baking soda, and salt; mix well.
  3. Combine the egg mixture with the creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in buttermilk and orange juice.
  5. Fold in coconut, white raisins, black walnuts, and candied fruit.
  6. Pour batter into a greased baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
