Chewy, sweet date nut chews with a hint of almond, perfect for a quick treat or sharing with friends. They combine rich dates and crunchy nuts in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 c. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs, salt, and almond extract until light.
  2. Gradually beat in sugar and Karo syrup.
  3. Add chopped dates and chopped nuts; mix well.
  4. Fold in sifted flour until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into two greased 8-inch square cake pans.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are brown.
  7. Remove from oven and while hot, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares.
  8. Shape the squares into small balls.
  9. Roll the balls in powdered sugar.
