- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a large bowl, mix chopped dates, chopped walnuts, flour, and sugar.
- In a small bowl, beat eggs at high speed for 5 minutes or until thick and lemon-colored.
- Stir the beaten eggs into the date mixture; batter will be very thick.
- Spread the batter evenly in a well-buttered 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool, then cut into squares and top with whipped cream or whipped cream cheese if desired.
