Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cans red kidney beans
  • 1 can cut up tomatoes
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 4 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. white wine (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 6 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 6 Tbsp. crushed red or cayenne pepper
  • 6 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce or similar red sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. preferred "thick" hot sauce (suggest Scorned Woman or Soul Sauce; to tone down, use barbecue sauce instead)

Instructions

  1. Into bowl, place "thick" hot sauce, 2 tablespoons cayenne, 2 tablespoons garlic powder, 2 tablespoons chili powder, brown sugar and ground beef mixed together until thoroughly even.
  2. For an interesting addition, 1/2 cup white wine can be mixed in to increase the heat.
  3. Place onion, celery, green pepper, chopped jalapenos, 2 tablespoons Tabasco sauce, 2 tablespoons chili powder, butter and 2 tablespoons cayenne into saucepan and saute until all are softened or slightly browned.
  4. In a high-walled skillet, brown hamburger mixture.
  5. Combine the sauteed vegetables and add the beans (undrained), tomatoes (undrained), bay leaf and tomato paste.
  6. Add any remaining ingredients you may have at this time and cook on a medium flame, slowly stirring until 5 minutes after it has come to a boil.
  7. Remove bay leaf and serve with pitchers of water.
