Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Lightly grease an 8-inch glass baking dish.
  3. Place half of the sliced apples in the dish and drizzle with half of the corn syrup.
  4. Add the remaining apples, lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, sugar, salt, softened butter, flour, and oats; mix well.
  6. Press the mixture firmly over the apples in the dish.
  7. Bake for 50 minutes.
  8. Serve topped with vanilla ice cream.
