Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in boiling water; batter will be thin.
  4. Pour into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes or until a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and top with your favorite frosting.
