Ingredients

  • 1 lb. first choice mushrooms
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup club soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Wash mushrooms and dry thoroughly on a towel.
  2. If mushrooms are large, cut them into 1/4-inch thick slices; small mushrooms may be left whole.
  3. In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, club soda, and garlic salt to make the batter.
  4. Heat cooking oil in a deep fryer or large pot until hot.
  5. Dip the mushrooms into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.
  6. Deep fry the coated mushrooms until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving.
