- Mix all the ingredients, except the deer steaks and mushrooms, in a large pot.
- Add the steaks to the marinade and refrigerate for 6 hours.
- If the meat is frozen, do not defrost; increase marinating time by at least 2 hours.
- Cook the steaks on a grill over hot coals for about 4 minutes on each side or until doneness, basting with the marinade several times.
- Heat the mushrooms in butter for a steak topping.
