Delicious Chop Suey
A hearty and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef and pork with vegetables and savory sauce, perfect for a satisfying family dinner or casual gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb beef, cubed into small bite-size pieces ⓘ
- 1 1/2 lb pork, cubed into small bite-size pieces
- 8 oz can tomato bits with sauce ⓘ
- 5 oz La Choy soy sauce ⓘ
- 2 cups celery, chopped ⓘ
- 1 onion, chopped ⓘ
- 1 small can water chestnuts ⓘ
- 1 jar mushrooms, washed and drained
- 1/4 cup cornstarch ⓘ
- Cooked rice ⓘ
- 14 oz can bean sprouts
Instructions
- Place the beef and pork in a large kettle and fry until browned.
- Sprinkle with soy sauce, cover, and brown the meat further.
- Add 4 to 6 cups of water and the tomato bits with sauce.
- Wash and drain the bean sprouts and water chestnuts.
- Add the bean sprouts, water chestnuts, chopped celery, chopped onion, mushrooms, and all other ingredients to the meat mixture.
- Cook for 2 hours over medium heat.
- When the celery is tender, thicken the mixture with the cornstarch dissolved in water.
