Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb beef, cubed into small bite-size pieces
  • 1 1/2 lb pork, cubed into small bite-size pieces
  • 8 oz can tomato bits with sauce
  • 5 oz La Choy soy sauce
  • 2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 small can water chestnuts
  • 1 jar mushrooms, washed and drained
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • Cooked rice
  • 14 oz can bean sprouts

Instructions

  1. Place the beef and pork in a large kettle and fry until browned.
  2. Sprinkle with soy sauce, cover, and brown the meat further.
  3. Add 4 to 6 cups of water and the tomato bits with sauce.
  4. Wash and drain the bean sprouts and water chestnuts.
  5. Add the bean sprouts, water chestnuts, chopped celery, chopped onion, mushrooms, and all other ingredients to the meat mixture.
  6. Cook for 2 hours over medium heat.
  7. When the celery is tender, thicken the mixture with the cornstarch dissolved in water.
