Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion or onion flakes
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
  • 1 (16 oz) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 to 5 teaspoons chili powder

Instructions

  1. Crumble ground beef in a 2-quart glass casserole dish.
  2. Stir in onion and green pepper.
  3. Cover with a glass lid.
  4. Microwave for about 5 minutes on High or until meat is browned.
  5. Drain excess fat and stir in tomato paste, whole tomatoes, kidney beans, water, salt, garlic powder, and chili powder.
  6. Re-cover the dish.
  7. Microwave for 14 to 16 minutes on Medium or until hot.
  8. Let stand, covered, for 5 minutes before serving.
  9. Serve with shredded cheese on top.
