Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3 or 4 c. milk
  • 1 small can deviled ham

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together.
  2. Add shortening and rub lightly with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add milk gradually and roll out dough to 1 or 2 inches thick.
  4. Cut the dough into 4-inch squares.
  5. Brush each square with butter and place 1 teaspoon of deviled ham in three corners of each square.
  6. Fold or assemble as desired, then brush over with butter.
  7. Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.
