Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 1/4 c. warm water
  • 5 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 6 Tbsp. powdered buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. melted shortening or oil

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, soda, baking powder, powdered buttermilk, and sugar.
  3. Add half of the flour mixture to the yeast mixture and beat well.
  4. Add melted shortening or oil and mix slightly.
  5. Add the remaining flour mixture and knead or mix until combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured board, cover with a bowl, and let rest for 10 minutes.
