Ingredients

  • 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced paper-thin
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, sliced paper-thin
  • 1 white onion, sliced paper-thin
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • salt to taste
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced vegetables in a bowl in layers.
  2. Sprinkle sugar, salt, and freshly ground black pepper on each layer.
  3. Pour the vinegar over the vegetables, adding more if necessary to cover.
  4. Cover and let stand for about an hour before serving.
